DISCOVER PARRAMATTA THE LEADING CITY AT THE HEART OF SYDNEY

Parramatta is a thriving and vibrant city

located just 24km from the Sydney CBD and

only minutes from Sydney Olympic Park. In

addition to nationally significant heritage

Parramatta boasts a delectable and diverse

dining scene and an exciting calendar of

events.

The most scenic way to travel to Parramatta

is by Rivercat ferry from Circular Quay. On

arrival follow the Riverside Walk to the

Parramatta Heritage and Visitor Information

Centre for expert advice on what to see

and do.

Heritage

Parramatta holds many stories of Sydney’s

earliest colonial days and through the city’s

many historic properties these tales begin

to unfold.

> The Harris Park Heritage Walk links

the Rivercat Wharf with Elizabeth Farm,

Hambledon Cottage and Experiment Farm

Cottage, where the colony’s earliest farming

estates flourished and where today visitors

can hear the stories of Parramatta’s early

days.

Parks

> Parramatta Park is a tranquil haven

along the Parramatta River for natural,

indigenous and colonial heritage including

Old Government House. Enjoy a walk or relax

by the river at the café.

> Lake Parramatta Reserve is a bushland

and parkland reserve once occupied by the

local Burramattagal Aboriginal clan. Visit the

impressive 1856 sandstone dam, the earliest

in Australia; experience the native fauna and

flora and enjoy a meal at the café.

Dining and Shopping

> Choose from our many restaurants and

cafes offering fine and alfresco dining with

traditional and contemporary cuisine from

around the world including Mediterranean,

Middle East and the Far East.

> Great Shopping. Boutiques and specialty

shops line the streets and malls along with

distinctive gourmet produce and exotic

groceries. Explore the biggest Westfield

shopping centre in NSW.

Entertainment and Events

> The Riverside Theatres are the place to go

for the latest in drama, dance, comedy and

cabaret. The theatres host events as part of

Sydney’s largest festivals and have regular

comedy nights.

> The Roxy is a restored 1930s grand theatre

offering live concerts and comedy shows. A

central courtyard offers a great place to relax

with a drink or meet friends for a meal.

> Riverbeats is Parramatta’s annual

celebration of water and culture and

includes the beautiful Loy Krathong Thai

festival.

Sport

> Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is host of the

Golden Slipper Festival, one of the world’s

richest horse races.

> Parramatta Leagues Club and Parramatta

Stadium is home of the mighty ‘Eels’

Rugby League team and one of Sydney’s

most popular licensed clubs. Granville

Park is the home ground of ‘Two Blues’
